Matthieu Dutil is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of French and Italian at Princeton University. A native of Angers, France, where he completed his Bachelor’s of Art in English Literature, Matthieu went on to complete a Master’s of Art in French Literature at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa where he defended a Master’s thesis entitled From Marvel to Science Fiction: Intellectual and Literary History of Insects. His research interests include the crossroads of science and literature, particularly when considering the fields of Animal Studies and Environmental Studies. He is also interested in the history of science—particularly in the long eighteenth century—and the legacy and the traces of its scientific texts in contemporary literature.
