Chad A Córdova is a PhD candidate currently working on a dissertation that compares the two moments of French intellectual history that most spectacularly pitted humanism against antihumanism: ca. 1940-80 (in Sartre, Foucault, Lacan, and others) and ca. 1640-80 (in Descartes, La Rochefoucauld, and Pascal, among others). Besides the history of French philosophy and literature, Chad’s interests include translation, history of science, media theory, early modern painting, and modern art.
