Professor Effie Rentzou has been awarded the Cotsen Family Faculty Fellowship for 2022-2025. Designed for faculty members recognized as outstanding teachers of undergraduates, the Fellowship supports the development and teaching of new undergraduate courses or other distinctive contributions to the undergraduate teaching program. In addition, it carries funding for two graduate students per year in the Fellow’s department, who, chosen for their promise as teachers, work as research and teaching assistants to the Cotsen Faculty Fellow. In his nomination of Rentzou, Prof. Thomas Trezise, Chair of the Department, emphasized the uncommon interdisciplinary scope of her curricular innovation, adding that “she is, in her undergraduate teaching, an authentic citizen of the University.” Professor Rentzou is the first member of the Department of French and Italian to be awarded this prestigious fellowship.
