
The Department of French and Italian (FIT) congratulates all its students from the Class of 2025 on their graduation from Princeton University! In addition to its majors — Sidney Singer, Mackenzie E. Slagle, Josie V. Smart, and Audrey Yang — FIT awarded four departmental prizes and 22 language and culture minors to students from across 13 departments.
The André Maman Senior Thesis Prize, for an outstanding thesis on the culture, economy, history, politics, or society of France, was divided between French minor student Abigail Rabieh of the History department and Helena Drake of the Comparative Literature depatment.
The R. Percy Alden Memorial Prize for the best senior in French went to FIT major Audrey Yang, who also received Highest Honors and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
FIT major, Mackenzie E. Slagle, and Italian minors, Angela Allen, Caroline Coen, and Alexa Marsh from three departments were inducted into the Gamma Kappa Alpha National Italian Honor Society along with seniors Ian Fridman, Vincent Gerardi, Jason Luo, and Daniel Viorica. They graduate alongside a group of 19 French minors from 13 departments across the university.
Also recognized at the Class Day ceremony were French major Sofiia Shapovalova '26, recipient of the R. Percy Alden Memorial Prize for the best junior in French, and a slate of eleven first-years were awarded the Dorothea van Dyke McLane Prize for outstanding work in Italian: Leonardo Bene, Valerio Castellini, Zoe Daly, Gavin Gershon, Lola Horowitz, Alexander Luna, Ava Mania, Amelie McComb, Anna Pratico, Joey Roth, Sophia Singh.
