Joris Lacoste / Emmanuelle Lafon / Encyclopédie de la parole
blablabla is the Encyclopédie’s first production to take on a child’s eye-view. Made up of recordings of all kinds, this work explores the incredible range of uses and abilities of human speech. Everything from the commonplace to the enchanting, from documentary to fiction, from the media to our households, and from speech to song is brought together in an exhilarating whirlwind that breaks down the boundaries of our imaginations. Backed by a sophisticated audio arrangement, musician and dancer Armelle Dousset continuously transforms her voice to produce a multitude of characters, situations, and landscapes. Joris Lacoste and Emmanuelle Lafon, who have been contributing to the Encyclopédie de la parole for ten years, give us a taste of reality through the ears of human language. This time, the collective explores how children hear, and understand, the world around them.
