On December 17th, 2017, Elisa Dossena will present her book "Sequenze. Italian through Contemporary Film" and on teaching Italian through cinema at the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo, Japan.
Elisa Dossena, Department of French and Italian, Princeton University, has authored two books on the use of films in Italian classes. During the conference she will illustrate the methodological principles and practical use through a series of examples.
Elisa began teaching Italian in Tokyo in 1995 at the Tozai Bunka Center, NHK Bunka Center and the Italian Cultural Institute and continued her teaching and research activities in various language schools, cultural institutes and universities both in Japan and in USA. She specialized in teaching Italian to foreigners at the University of Venice Ca 'Foscari. In addition to general language teaching, her research focuses on sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and the use of films in Italian classes. She is the co-author of La prima cosa bella , Quaderno del cinema published by Guerra Edizioni in 2014 and, in 2016, together with Silvia Dupont, she published Sequences. Italian Language Through Contemporary Film published by Farinelli Edizioni, New York. She has presented her research on teaching Italian through cinema at various international conferences in America and Italy.
