Event Description
The Troupe of Princeton University's Department of French and Italian, L'Avant-Scene, the French Theater Workshop, in partnership with the Princeton University Art Museum will perform Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais' Le Mariage de Figaro (1784), directed by Florent Masse, which marks the fourteenth time that L'Avant-Scène has produced a play at the Princeton University Art Museum.
Le Mariage de Figaro is Beaumarchais' masterpiece, conceived a few years before the French Revolution. Revolutionary in its form Le Mariage de Figaro ushered in new dramaturgies that followed in the nineteenth century, such as the ones of Victor Hugo, Eugene Labiche, and Georges Feydeau.
The production will feature advanced L'Avant-Scene students Michael Smilek '20, Anna Vinitsky '21, Peter Foster '21, Romy Khoneisser '21 (Sciences-Po Paris), Flora Champy FIT, Morgan Teman '23, Gavin LaPlace '23, Andrès Irribarra Ramirez '20, Marie-Irene Igelmann FIT and Théo Barbaro (Sciences-Po Paris).
