Leila Slimani

The Lewis Center for the Arts Program in Creative Writing, the Department of French and Italian, the Program in Translation and Intercultural Communication, Rockefeller College, and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy present An Evening with Leila Slimani: Reading of Excerpts of Chanson douce (A Perfect Nanny) in English, followed by a conversation between the author and David Bellos, Meredith Howland Pyne Professor of French Literature and Professor of Comparative Literature, Director Program in Translation and Intercultural Communication.

Leïla Slimani is a novelist and journalist. She was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 2016 for her novel Chanson douce, appearing in English as The Perfect Nanny (Penguin Books). Her first novel, Dans le jardin de l’ogre, was given the La Mamounia Literary Prize. Slimani’s latest work, an essay on sexuality in Morocco entitled Sexe et mensonges, has been nominated for the Prix Renaudot.  More information about Chanson douce.
