Event Description
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2019; 1:30PM | McCORMICK 106
Presented by Teodolinda Barolini, Lorenzo Da Ponte Professor of Italian, Columbia University.
We will consider Dante’s authorial pedagogy with the thought that today’s teachers and readers of the Divine Comedy may benefit from a brief consideration of how the Comedy’s author approaches his self-appointed task as teacher. We must always contend with decisions made by the author, but it may be useful to parse these decisions, noting that some facilitate the teaching process while others impede it.
